Porsche 924
Automotive Art | Photoshop Chops | Elegant Stance
The first project started and finished in 2023: a Porsche 924. Ever since seeing these transaxle vehicles as a kid in the 1980’s, I have always preferred the wide-body 944 versions and didn’t pay much attention to the narrow-body 924. They always had a weird stance, riding too high on cookie cutter wheels and tires. This however can be changed, and when I found a picture of a blue metallic early US-spec 924 it had to happen. First the USDM sidemarkers and the horrible 5 mph bumpers had to go, but I certainly didn’t want to utilize EU-spec bumpers. Therefore I went with a custom solution and created smooth integrated bumpers for a cleaner look. Once that was done, I replaced the VW Golf derived door handles with much more elegant items from a Renault 5, including the indentation on the B-pillar. The door lock is now integrated in the push button instead of being a separate piece on the door. While at it, I removed the door pins and the rearview mirrors had to go as well. The items on the car now are Italian Vitaloni items borrowed from a Lamborghini Countach. The wheels are multi-piece items with original centers and step-up lips. Many small changes you might not even notice at a brief glance, but now this Porsche 924 looks like I imagined it back in the 80’s.

Love it! What size wheels did you go for and did you have to roll / change the arches to fit?
How much did you lower it by? Very tempted to buy a 924 after seeing this!

Doing the pixel math brings one to a figure of 17.85, so 18 inches.

Hello Steve,
thank you for the kind words. As this is a photoshop and not a picture of a real Porsche 924, I can only wager a guess concerning the wheels size. I would say 17″ would look about right on a 924. You very likely would have to roll or otherwise modify the wheel arches.
Best regards
