1:24 Scale Model   |   Welly + scratchbuilt body  |   Built by Sebastian Motsch

My good friend Dirk Przyklenk (DepeBiedl) and I discussed the progress on his Citroën DS Tissier car carrier one day last summer. Dirk decided to use the Ebbro plastic injection kit instead of the Welly diecast, which was already cut and trimmed. I asked him whether I could use the leftovers to build another crazy Citroën, to accompany the HY and Méhari Beach Rods built last year. A couple of months later, a package arrived and I immediately started building. The Ford F-100 pick-up bed initially planned to be utilized was warped and killed the beautiful flow of the body lines. Therefore it went back in the box it came from and I mocked-up a more elegant solution, cut from Evergreen 1 mm sheet.

As it often happens while scratchbuilding stuff, I got carried away and eventually ended up with a twin deck bed, resembling the rear of a fancy yacht. Adding to the yacht theme, I chose a maritime colour scheme and used real mahagony wood for the floor inserts throughout the vehicle. The mahagony wood received three layers of clearcoat. The paint is Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue and TS-26 Pure White over Tamiya White Primer. As my Bare Metal Foil (BMF) is too old and doesn’t stick any more, I have to wait until the new batch arrives, before being able to add the chrome strip over the black 3M tape stripe separating the colours now.

This was a fun model to build. I really enjoy bringing my weird ides creations to life – whether it is as a virtual model with Photoshop or in 1:24 scale as real scale models.

This model is featured in the 2021 Virtual Jabbeke Scale Model Show.
