DS Hommage

When the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 was launched it divided minds and opinions. Heated discussions took place and only those who actually took one for a test drive got the idea. It is essentially a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a different body. Lower with less frontal area and much better aerodynamics, it’s more efficient and provides a better range with the same battery pack. So far I have never met anybody who calls it pretty or even beautiful – form follows function is the name of the game and function it certainly does very well. In my opinion the rear wheels should have been covered to achieve better proportions and further improve aerodynamics. While playing around with the idea in photoshop, classic French vehicles immediately popped up in my head. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 headlights are not too dissimilar to the Citroën CX when altered a little bit and the banana-esque side profile with the sloping tail has hints of Citroën DS. The C-Pillar trim from a DS Pallas may be a bit too much and nobody would actually use external hinges for a trunk in 2023. From form follows function to form follows fun by altering a few lot of pixels on a controversial BEV.
