Coupé HB

Last weeks Speedhunters post about Janne Kortekurus’ Mazda 929 from Finland instantly triggered my creativity. It must have been years that I’ve seen a Mazda 929, much less the even rarer coupé version. Starting with an old Mazda press photo, I let my mind run free just for the fun of it. A rather quick project, but with many details. Lowered over multi-piece cross-spoke wheels covered by overfenders, the stance is much more aggressive than the rather pedestrian stock suspension setup. The black rubber strips have been deleted, the front bumper painted in body colour and the rear bumper omitted. The front grille has been modified and the quad pop-up headlights have been deleted. Instead, the front panel now houses three air intakes. An intercooler and hood scope hint at a turbo conversion and the front and rear spoilers give the Mazda 929 Coupé a retro JDM tuning flair. The driver side door has been replaced at some point, probably due to some sort of mishap while drifting the car.
