Unexpected Stopover in Oman

Muscat

Coming from Frankfurt we had to circle above Muscat for an extended time due to a runway closure. So long in fact, that we had to fly to Dubai to get fuel and wait there grounded until Muscat International Airport reopened. By the time we arrived there, the connecting flight to Manila had been canceled and the airline organised a hotel for the night.

Muscat Hills Beach Club

It was not even mid-day, so we decided to get a rental car instead of hitching the bus to the hotel. Having been in Muscat before we knew that it would be a lot nicer to spend the rest of the day at the beach. Two girls we met at the airports service desk joined us and we spent a very chill day at Muscat Hills Beach Club, followed by a nice dinner at the hotel.

After dinner we went for a walk in the area around the hotel, enjoying the warm temperatures of the night. A beautifully illuminated mosque provided lots of architectural detail to admire.
